GEMS, short for Guiding Empowered Minds and Spirits, is more than just a program—it's a transformative mentorship journey for children with incarcerated parents. At GEMS, we are committed to guiding these young individuals on a path of empowerment and growth. Through our mentorship program, we provide invaluable resources and support to connect children with the tools they need to thrive. From financial literacy education to personalized tutoring sessions, our mentors are dedicated to nurturing positive development and instilling a sense of confidence and self-worth in each child. We believe that every child's life holds immense value, and through GEMS, we strive to ensure that their value increases daily as they embrace their potential and shape their futures.

Grandma Betty’s is committed to supporting children with incarcerated loved ones through our seasonal Giveback Programs, which provide essential items, joyful experiences, and a sense of belonging.
Our Back to School Giveback equips children with everything they need to start the school year confidently—from supplies and uniforms to personalized items that reflect each child’s unique style.
As the weather cools, our Fall Costume and Coats Giveback offers warm coats and festive costumes, ensuring children can embrace the season with warmth and fun, feeling included in the joy of fall traditions.
During our Winter Holiday Giveback, we spread holiday cheer by fulfilling wishlists and providing holiday gifts tailored to each child, bringing a little extra joy during a season when family connection matters most.
Each of these programs is designed to create memorable, empowering moments, showing children that they are cared for, valued, and supported all year round.
The Family Connections: Parental Visitation Program provides vital assistance to families by offering support with registration and transportation for children to visit their incarcerated loved ones. Our aim is to strengthen family bonds and facilitate meaningful connections, recognizing the importance of maintaining relationships despite the challenges posed by incarceration.

"Growing up with both parents incarcerated at different phases in my life, I often felt like I was navigating the world alone. There were moments of deep loneliness, where I felt unsupported, unstable, and ashamed, believing that nobody else could truly understand what I was going through."
